Business Development Manager

Job Summary:

SilverBow Resources is seeking a Business Development Manager who will be responsible for leading all A&D activities of the Company. Ensures all deal leads are prosecuted and maintains updated database of A&D opportunities in targeted basins. Prepares initial A&D evaluation and presents to senior management to determine next steps. Coordinates the geological/land/operational/legal evaluation, due diligence, letter of intent construction, valuation, purchase and sale agreement negotiation, and closing of all acquisitions and divestitures. Continuously improves programs, processes and relationships.


  • Identify opportunities in targeted basins, initiates contact and leads project team to evaluate and pursue all relevant A&D opportunities
  • Be “go to” person when industry professionals want to discuss A&D with SBOW
  • Develops and presents preliminary overview to Senior Management to identify major issues and determine next steps
  • Stay current on industry transactions / trends and metrics (relative to geographic location, oil/gas weighted, $/boe/mcfe, etc.)
  • Review CA’s and coordinate due diligence process with sellers
  • Leads preparation of comprehensive evaluation analysis by working closely with multi-disciplinary team across SBOW divisions
  • Coordinate SBOW’s due diligence efforts across company and Contract Due Diligence personnel.
  • Work in close coordination with Operations team to assess operational impact, and with Accounting and Finance Groups to determine financial model impact
  • Coordinate review of PSA and all exhibits with legal and outside parties and companies
  • Coordinate curing/addressing post-closing issues and any hold-back issues


  • 5+ years minimum oil and gas business development with success at increasingly difficult responsibilities and the ability to lead successful corporate development activities
  • Working knowledge of geosciences, engineering, land, accounting, marketing and regulatory matters as they apply to A&D projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex financial information into an organized and presentable manner
  • Ability to solve complex problems accurately and negotiate satisfactory solutions and compromises
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public
  • Ability to channel competitive intelligence into transactions
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities
  • Desire and passion to see a job through to completion
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), Aries economics evaluation software and generally accepted petroleum engineering software packages
  • Knowledge of PHDWin and Spotfire preferred


  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (preferably petroleum, geological, chemical or mechanical)
  • Preferred: MBA or Master's in Petroleum Engineering
